Annette Salrin received her degree in Fine Arts from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Her professional career started as a commercial artist with an advertising agency in Marion, Ohio and continued on with one of the country's largest calendar company, Shaw-Barton, in Coshocton, Ohio. Today, continuing as a professional full time artist, with a career spanning over 40 years, she has established herself as a painter of quality and is widely accepted in her field. Unusual for artists today, Annette chooses to paint in either oils or watercolors, whichever she deems favorable for the subject matter and her surrounding environment. Annette has been in many regional, national, juried and invitational museum shows and is included in many corporate and private collections. Annette Salrin maintains a studio and gallery in her home and invites you to call if you wish to view her work.

Variations in subject matter from one painting to the next give me an
inspiring approach to painting. Whether it is a boat in for repair, a fence in
the snow or a Mexican woman selling balloons, I enjoy painting from life.
When I consider a subject I want to paint, I look at it for what I consider the best viewpoint. I look for a new and fresh approach and not to have a
"formula".

In watercolor I consider the white paper to be one intricate part of the
painting even if it is just a little white showing through. However in contrast
to this, when I am painting in oils, I more than likely will start out by
covering my white canvas with a burnt umber wash. I haven't tried to
comprehend the meaning of these two opposites but I know both mediums
are challenging and give me a feeling of diversification.

Professional art career has included employment with the former Jay H. Maish Advertising Company in Marion, Ohio, the Shaw Barton Calendar Company in Coshocton, Ohio and free-lance graphic design work. Presently devotes full time to watercolor and oil painting.
Represented in many private and public collections such as: Dublin Chamber of Commerce, Paramount Productions, Nestle Corporation, Business First Newspaper and Kendall Oil Company.
